Jclagett

Great to see she is still flying. I had been on many trips as a child on N505S with my father in Colorado, based out of Denver Stapleton International. Weekly trips to Rock Springs, WY to a Texasgulf mine. When Texasgulf moved to Raleigh I cleaned this plane (my first job) in high school along with other Texasgulf planes. The image of N505S and the sedan in the background is that of my father’s car and most likely my father, Robert Clagett. The image of of N120S is taken outside the blue Texasgulf Aviation hanger at RDU. Sadly, Shan Sorenson who was one of TG’s corporate pilots died in the crash of one of TG’s Jetstars in 1981 on approach to Westchester,NY. Cause of the crash, just one mile from the runway, was attributed to a total electrical failure on the Jet star. T G lost 6 high level executives and two pilots in the crash. Shan flew my father for many years at TG. I remember when the phone rang and my father’s disbelief. Keep the wheels up N505S.
